The visit of King Faisal bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud to the West African countries in 1966 and the launching of the policy of Islamic solidarity to serve Islam and Muslims in sub-Saharan Africa has had a positive impact on all Muslim peoples in the world.
After the criminal attempt to burn Al-Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem in 1969, the idea of Islamic solidarity crystallized into reality in the establishment of the Organization of the Islamic Conference. This wise decision was based on the payment of opinion, wisdom and foresight, and dedication to the just causes.
The establishment of the Islamic Solidarity Fund was also an extension of this idea by a decision of the Second Islamic Conference held in Lahore, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, in 1394H (1974) as a permanent fund with its independent corporate personality.
